The Goal of this Site
This website is dedicated to presenting the various scientific debates regarding the biological (genetic) nature of homosexuality. There is a tremendous amount of outside social and political baggage associated with the study of sexual orientation, more so than say genetic studies on eye color. Therefore, I feel there is cause to more closely examine what this debate looks like from within the sciences and how this debate is (or is not) relayed to you and me--the lay readers (or non-geneticists).
First, I will present what the actual scientists are finding and saying about homosexuality within the sciences. This will include foundations which scientists agree upon, and more importantly where they depart from one another. There are dozens of theories that span genetic and environmental explanations. I will present the most dominant and recent theories.
The next page, Rhetoric of the Science, is my analysis of how the science of homosexuality is approached, namely the language and terminology used to describe the theories. Also, the rhetoric of the science includes some relevant, broader social implications of these scientific models/theories of homosexuality. In other words, what's the point of this sexual orientation quest?
